If you’ve been living in Denver for awhile and have never been to Red Rocks for a Blues Traveler show on the fourth of July, then you’re missing out on one of Denver’s hottest holiday events.
Blues Traveler is a rock band that has been influenced by a variety of genres, including blues-rock, folk rock, soul and Southern Rock. They are well known for their extensive use of segues in their live performances. If you can imagine the scenic view of Red Rocks at sunset, with some fantastic showmanship by John Popper, the lead singer, then it’s a must that you check this show out. No one knows when the last show at Red Rocks might be. In the summer of 1998, John Popper had emergency heart surgery, forcing the band to cancel their annual July 4th Red Rocks show at the last minute. It was speculated that even with his strong recovery that they may never play Red Rocks again — however, they’re back. And the show is so popular, that they keep coming back and selling out the venue.
As if seeing Blues Traveler wasn’t enough, there will also be appearances by Glen Phillips With Toad the Wet Sprocket and Matisyahu.
It will be a tremendous show and tickets may already be sold out.
