The Smell of Fashion Lingers in the Air

On a night where all anyone could smell was the fresh, wet, rain making the grass dance, an occasional lemon candy perfume was gasped at one of Denver’s hottest new restaurants, Linger.  Situated in the Lower Highlands area in what used to be  Olinger Mortuary, an iconic symbol in Denver photography for years, the three story building again became the focus of art and more so fashion.

In the place where cuisine from around the world is the focus, Thursday nights gaze was on a runway show to celebrate the grand opening of neighbor and fellow tenant of the historical building, Goldyn, an online retailer of fine apparel both vintage and niche.  Originally supposed to occupy the rooftop, the DJ hosted runway model show was moved indoors to the second floor bar area which holds an astonishing view of downtown Denver.  The whole restaurant was converted into a working runway for the beautiful hipsters to show off some of Goldyn’s current Spring/Summer 2011 collection.

The tall and lanky divas were in full strut methodically moving their way through the wine and cocktail sipping crowd, pausing glamorously for the cameras, staring, smiles stricken from faces like they owned it.  And own it they did, bouncing with every step to the Cut Copy that was playing in the background, void of their surroundings yet  fully aware of their impact.  The show lasted about 40 minutes giving way to the after party in the retail store where the models sat around chatting under a sparkling chandelier, amongst the $400 dollar dresses they had just adorned and potential customers admired the different styled purses and boots, coming in at the tune of $495 and up.

Overall the evening was a showing of high fashion in an area of town that is just blowing up right now, Linger and Goldyn are just two of the most recent additions to the LOHI area which is expanding into a very trendy little section of Denver.
